About Me
Hi, I’m Moss!
I’m currently a full-time student working and finishing up my bachelor’s in Design & Technology for Entertainment at the University of New Mexico. While not working or focusing on my studies, you can often find me admiring the outdoors, creating art for my friends and family, and trying out new recipes for dinner. I specialize in scenic painting, propmaking, and technical lighting work. My pronouns are they/them/theirs.
My History
I had always been enthralled by the magic of live performance. When I was 13, I finally had the chance to become involved in my school’s theatre, and instantly fell in love with the whole process of bringing a performance to life. Growing up in a small town with only local high school theatres, however, I had no idea that opportunities working within theatre truly existed. After moving to New Mexico and spending years studying for a career that I eventually lost interest in, I realized that I simply could not live without theatre. This led to my eventual discovery of the Design and Technology for Performance department at my university, and I realized I’d finally found the opportunity to live a life I truly loved. Since then, I have found incredible purpose and meaning in creating art for the stage. Whether it be painting scenic elements, creating detailed props for the stage, working as a lighting technician, or even working as a simple stagehand, I get great joy from being able to say that I have touched a performance in some way.
Outside of the Theatre
Outside of the theatre, you’ll probably find me enjoying nature, art, food, and a variety of books and video games. I love finding excuses to create art or cook food for my family and friends, or getting engrossed in my newest project. When I have the free time and materials, I also enjoy experimenting with different artistic makeup looks. I find great comfort and recognition in the queer community, and consider my queerness to be an integral part of my perspective and experience throughout life. I care deeply for the preservation of our environment, and aim to surround myself with a positive community that seeks to help not only itself, but to consider the perspectives of others and our impact on the world around us.
